Bolton & Menk Builds a CLM Operation from the Ground Up with IntelAgree & Elevate
Building a contract management operation from scratch is a significant undertaking for any organization.
The Elevate team was super organized, on top of things, and willing and able to meet us where we were. It would have taken a lot longer...
— Abby Pettit, General Counsel, Bolton & MenkThe challenge
No CLM foundation and honor-code compliance
Contracts were buried across project files, making master agreements difficult to locate, and legal review was inconsistent with no enforced approvals. With no CLM foundation in place, Bolton & Menk needed to build the operation from the ground up.
The solution
Standardized templates and enforced workflows
The Elevate team consolidated state-specific contract versions into standardized templates, tagged every attribute, and built the smart forms, ultimately delivering 16 full templates with approval workflows. IntelAgree's Microsoft 365 integration and self-service platform let the team manage templates without support tickets, supported by weekly check-ins and milestone tracking.
The results
A complete CLM operation, on time
Bolton & Menk delivered 16 standardized smart templates in roughly three and a half months, registering nearly 500 users and centralizing about 250 contracts in one repository.

"Removing some of the decision-making requirements from the folks who are primarily charged with getting first drafts out the door has been really great for consistency."
— Abby Pettit, General Counsel, Bolton & Menk"One of the reasons that we went with IntelAgree was the sense we got about IntelAgree's more personalized relationships with their customers."
— Abby Pettit, General Counsel, Bolton & Menk"It was hit or miss whether I reviewed or if some review was happening outside of the project manager for contracts. Compliance was really employee-driven. It was kind of an honor code system."
